Nah, You’re Not Really Free

Posted in Course Material, Ethics, Values Analysis by Chris on October 18, 2007

We just finished the problem of free will in Classic Problems. And we talked about free will today in conjunction with Kant’s ethics in Values Analysis. In honor of the topic (and especially for my Values students who might be having a hard time getting their heads around the issue), here’s an interesting cartoon introduction to the whole problem of free will from Waking Life. Enjoy!

That’s amazing! I feel like we should have just watched this video at the beginning of the semester and said, “well, there’s the issue. Go write a paper!” The guy just perfectly explained the free will issue in a little over three minutes!

I really love “Waking Life”. It presents so many different issues, so many different “schools of thought” in a really entertaining, creative way. 😀
